How to Get or Change Your Message Tones
Downloading and setting message tones is usually different on every cellphone. Not only that but some phones will or will not allow you to modify different tones. I've seen certain phones that will allow to change the keypad tone while others that do not. The good news is that most phones will, however, allow you to change any of your notification sounds such as text messages, email messages, or even calendar alerts. It's always nice to be able to have a different message tone for each event in your day!
The great part about cellphones these days is that you can usually find message tons and ringtones absolutely free. This allows just about anyone to personalize every single tone that your phone makes, pretty cool right? Now the thing is, you should choose them wisely. You don't want to be sitting in a business meeting when your rooster alarm or your mosquito text message alert goes off. I usually set two different profiles on my phones, one for business and one for private. That way, when you're not working you can have different alarts altogether.
Downloading Message Tones to Your Phone
Now this is what's really so cool about new phone technology. Most phones have applications available where you can download all types tones including ringtones and message tones directly to your phone, no need for a computer at all. If you're lucky enough to have one of these phones I suggest using Zedge for tones (they've got thousands of choices.) If you can't seem to get the Zedge application on your phone there are tons of sites on the web where you can usually find tones and transfer them to your phone with a cable. I'll try to find some and post a list as soon as I have a chance.
